This Amherst is indeed the namesake of the college and city in Massachusetts. Bouquet, a Swiss mercenary, was subsequently promoted to Brigadier General and placed in charge of British military forces in the then-colonies of the southern US. He died in 1765, ironically, it is believed, from yellow fever.
